City Blossoms accomplishes its mission through five programs: Early Growers, School Garden Partners, Youth Entrepreneurship Cooperative, Community Green Spaces, and Training & Resource Development. These programs incorporate free or affordable in-school and out-of-school activities, community engagement opportunities, resources, and coaching to create holistic expressions of the culture and needs of each community through green space.

Youth Entrepreneurship Cooperative

We partner with high schools to manage a year-round, garden-based Youth Entrepreneurship Cooperative program. At the core of the program is a youth-led business called, Mighty Greens, through which participants combine elements of environmental and food justice with micro-enterprise and job readiness skills development. Participants maintain garden spaces, make added-value products, and sell those products and produce back to their communities. Who Are Mighty Greens?

A youth-led, garden-based, entrepreneurship program. We are a cooperative of young people (ages 15-19) that uses school gardens and greenhouses as spaces to learn how to care for edible and native plants while growing our business. Our cooperative members are primarily students from Eastern Senior High School and Cardozo Education Campus. Throughout the year we grow, harvest, and share some of the freshest produce and products in DC.
