Special Events
At City Blossoms we believe that celebrations are fun and productive ways of creating stronger communities around the gardens we work with. Celebrations occur both in schools and Community Green Spaces and are a great way to celebrate young gardeners’ hard work while also introducing others to garden-related projects and programs. Most celebrations are free to everyone (with donations welcomed). Some past celebrations have included:
Winter Extravaganza: an in-school fair where groups designed and led hands-on activities such as a free-market, bulb sale and photography exhibit.
Farmer’s Market Sale: youth entrepreneurs participated in a farmers market, selling their hand-made wares (lotion bars, soaps, seed balls, etc.) to the local community.
Basil Bonanza: A mid-summer celebration dedicated to the first harvest of BASIL. Includes a potluck feast in the gardens with every dish celebrating the best of basil, followed by a distribution of home-made one-of-a-kind awards.
Bulb Bash: Two end-of-season workdays that include planting hundreds of flower and edible bulbs. Not only is it a chance for one last celebration before winter but makes for beautiful Springs for years to come.
Movie-in-the-Garden: Just that, bring a blanket and some pocorn and enjoy watching a classic surrounded by sunflowers.
